Agent News - 1/17/10

Agent Kathleen Ortiz was kind enough to provide me with her likes and dislikes in what she's seeking. I've updated her entry on my 12/6/09 posting.

** New Agent** Dorothy Spencer has joined the Jennifer DeChiara Literary Agency, representing adult fiction and non-fiction in a variety of genres. Spencer has worked in acquisitions and development for more than fifteen years, working with publishers including Watson-Guptill; Van Nostrand Reinhold; Henry Holt; Chronicle Books; Prentice Hall Press; and W.H. Freeman, as well as with book packagers including Read/Write Press and LifeTime Media. (Source: Publishers Marketplace)

** New Agent** Rubin Pfeffer, who was most recently senior v-p and publisher of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, is opening an East Coast office for L.A. based East/West Literary. Pfeffer has been brought on as an agent and partner, and will be based in Boston, handling digital initiatives, among other things, for the agency, which specializes in representing children's authors and illustrators. According to an announcement from EWA, Pfeffer will be "developing and creating content for the 21st-century incarnations of publishing, both electronic and traditional print."
