I received my first round of edits from my editor for Chasing Shadows on Thursday, so we’re moving along. Going thru and fixing things in the MS will keep me busy for the next week or so. I’ve put off my other projects in the interim to concentrate on this. The edits are not too horrible and her suggestions will make me a better writer. So I’m not complaining (although I’ve cringed at parts of my writing!).
I just prepped the first chapter of Thirteen (again) to enter it into the Suzannah contest. I also had to include a shorter version of my synopsis, which will be judged. My synopsis needed tweaking from the original version since I’ve made minor plot changes in my MS. Anyway, this contest will pit me against both published and unpublished writers—which is a fresh take in the contest circuit. The 6 finalists will be judged by 4 editors from New York publishing houses and 2 agents! Even though Dorchester is considering my novel, it doesn’t mean they’ll accept it for publishing. Entering this contest will give me more feedback—which is always welcome—and broaden my chances of catching an editor or agent’s eyes if I final. Wish me luck!
Happy Autumn!
