Revisions and more revisions

Nothing going on with Chasing Shadows yet. I still don't have an editor. But I'm plugging away at revisions....

I love revising & editing a book. I actually spend more time in the revision stage than I do writing the first draft. The work is more intense and I actually spend more time per day at it than I do writing the first draft. It just sucks you in. The first draft flies on the page and I don't pay attention to sentence structure, sensory description, cohesiveness, etc. I write from point A to point B in serial fashion getting the main gist of the plot and characterization. Then I add the layers in the revision stage and fix my million mistakes and flaws.

I'm now finishing revision 2 of my "Druid Island" novel where I've added in all the missing pieces, i.e. goal/motivation/conflict and characterization. This is the hardest revision and takes the most time. I've also increased my word count by 10,000 words. And I haven't even added in missing sensory description. Yikes!

Anyway, I should finish this revision in the next day or so. Then I'm going to take a break from it and spruce up the first 3 chapters of Thirteen and write a preliminary synopsis. Just in case.

See ya!
